Triple JR Cattle Company was established in 2002 and is headquartered in Muldoon, Texas between Schulenburg and La Grange. It grew out of the dream of two best friends, Josh Leamons and Chip Gibson, to go into the cattle business together after graduating from college. 

They did all of the research on the industry, found the right people to advise them and convinced their dads that the Red Brangus Breed was the right business to get into. Then they took Jim and Roy to Weimar, Texas to meet a man named Don Cox and a ranch manager named Jose. It’s all history now!
 
Don encouraged them to buy a small herd of half-blood cows from him that he had purchased from Laura Hastedt, after the death of her husband. Along with the cows, they also purchased a quarter-blood bull named CX Changer from Don.  

One of those females, Miss Hastedt 540, had been pastured with CX Paymaster. Yes, we were blessed!  We were only beginning to understand the importance of superior genetics when she had our first bull calf …TJR Rojo Grande 540/N. He went on to become the 2006 Reserve Grand Champion of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and continues to produce some of our top bull calves and females today.

The herd has grown through specific mating practices and purchases at the CX Advantage Sales and the Genetic Edge Sales over the last 7 years. We have continued to add herd sires and females that bring superior genetics to our herd. Through our partnerships with breeders, we are fortunate to own some of the top Red Brangus Herd Sires in the breed through Dominator 23/K, CX Advantage 143/L, CR Red Chief 485/M1, CX Mr. Excalibur 381/K and TJR Rojo Grande 540/N.

In 2007, we made the decision to support the Black Brangus Breeders and purchased half interest in CX Black Diamond 485/P.   Well, you can’t have a bull without some ladies. At the 2007 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo we were stalled across from Danny and Mary Beth Farris. We feel in love with the 2 Black Brangus heifers they were showing and bought them at the Genetic Edge Sale. Since then, we have purchased several more black heifers and cows through other sales.

To add to our Black Brangus herd sires, we have recently purchased half interest in CH Mr Fred 875/R2 out of Center Ranch Fred. “Fred” is an outstanding bull that we think will take our Black Brangus herd to the next level.

In 2008, we began our International semen sales and started our embryo transfer program. Through these programs, we continue to strive for the sound traits of good muscle and bone, along with balance and structure that will compliment our existing herd and the next generation. Our focus continues to be superior genetics and lineage.

Never forgetting how we got started in the industry and the men that helped us get there … We look forward to assisting any cattlemen and cattlewomen with their herd as we continue to support and market the Brangus breed. We are pleased that Triple JR Cattle Company has grown and become a leader in building a registered Brangus herd through proven genetics.
